Water softener

When removing limescale from drinking water, W.A.L. GmbH uses the ion exchange process, which has been tried and tested since the beginning of the 20th century. In the ion exchange process, the water to be softened is passed through an ion exchange material, which removes the hardness formers calcium and magnesium and replaces them with the equivalent amount of sodium ions. This exchange of calcium and magnesium for sodium results in a reduction in water hardness to values below 0.5°d, or even less, which can be measured using a measuring set. The ion exchanger material itself is an amber-coloured plastic granulate which is made from a special polystyrene and is food-safe. When the capacity of a softener filter is exhausted, i.e. it can no longer soften any more water, the filter is rinsed fully automatically with brine (saline solution) to regenerate it. The brine is usually formed from salt tablets in the salt dissolving tank belonging to the system. Our filter systems and systems and devices for ion exchange neutralise limescale and thus soften drinking water, well water or process water.
